Patient, one-on-one coaching designed to build real water confidence, on your child's timeline.
At ClearHaven Swim School, every lesson is built around one child and one goal — helping them become safer and more confident in the water. We believe great swim instruction isn’t one-size-fits-all. Every swimmer learns differently, so every lesson is personalized to their pace, comfort level, and goals. Whatever your child needs, we show up ready to meet them there.
No falling behind, no waiting for the group. Every lesson is built around exactly where your child is today, so real progress happens faster.
One-on-one instruction means your child gets full attention and a steady, patient teaching style, every time — no distractions, no competing for the instructor's focus.
You'll always know what your child is working on and how they're progressing. We share strategies, celebrate milestones, and keep you part of the process every step of the way.

We cannot say enough amazing things about Clear Haven Swim School and especially Hudson, who works 1:1 with our 6-year-old nonverbal autistic daughter. Watching him teach her has been incredible. He doesn’t just know how to teach swimming — he truly understands how to adapt his instruction to the way she learns and processes information. His patience, calm energy, consistency, and ability to read her cues are something really special. He still make sure she has fun in session as well! What stood out most to us is how intentional he is with every technique. He breaks skills down in a way that is safe, structured, and easy for her to understand, while still building real swimming ability and confidence in the water. You can see his knowledge of swim instruction in every interaction, but what makes him exceptional is how naturally he adjusts those methods for children with different communication and sensory needs. His understanding of Autism is amazing, and he is customizing her instruction specifically for her. For parents of autistic children, finding someone who can genuinely connect with your child while also teaching critical water safety skills can feel impossible. Hudson has built trust with our daughter in a way that has exceeded every expectation we had. We are beyond grateful for the progress she has made and for the care, professionalism, and dedication he brings to every lesson. Truly, I never thought I would find someone that would have the skills in swim instruction and understanding of non-verbal autism ever. It has been amazing to have Hudson working with out daughter.Posted on Google ZerenelleTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Our son has been attending swim lessons with Hudson and has learned so much during his time with him. Hudson is so patient and deploys many techniques to keep his students on track with the lesson, while balancing fun. Our son really likes Hudson and looks forward to his lessons with him. We would highly recommend Clear Haven Swim School to anyone who has children who need to learn how to swim or improve their swimming. We are so thrilled he is extending his services through his school to other students.Posted on Google Kai KiaainaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Hudson is a close family friend who has made an incredible impact on our family. Working with my younger brother (8 years old), who has special needs, he showed unwavering patience, kindness, and genuine care. Hudson didn’t just teach him how to swim—he helped him feel safe, confident, and excited in the water. For a family that grew up around the ocean and loves it deeply, being able to share that joy with my little brother is something we will never take for granted. Watching him smile, grow, and truly enjoy swimming has been incredibly emotional for all of us and well worth every session. Hudson’s knowledge truly surprised us, and his approach was highly effective. Given the opportunity, I highly recommend at least trying the free 30-minute session like we did—we were all in after seeing how well Hudson adjusted his approach and guidance after first contact with my little brother. The results speak volumes and we are very grateful. Thank you Hudson! 10/10Posted on Google Andy ChouTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Hudson is an awesome swim instructor. My sister has a learning disability and can be quick to frustrate and give up. Hudson has an excellent balance of firmness and fun that actually led to her being able to swim independently. After only a few months. I cannot recommend Hudson enough.Posted on Google Aunt DiniTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I am incredibly impressed with Hudson and the remarkable progress my grandson Leo has made under his guidance. Leo, who is severely autistic and non-verbal, previously had a fear of water and wasn’t comfortable with his face getting wet. Thanks to Hudson’s incredible patience, understanding, and skill, Leo is now confidently swimming and has completely overcome his fear of the water. This was not an easy task because Leo was resistant, but Hudson found new and creative ways to get Leo into the pool and eventually swimming. Now Leo gets right in. I highly recommend Hudson as a swim coach to any child.Posted on Google Dennis PerezTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Very attentive. ClearHaven Swim School was founded on a simple belief: every child learns differently, and every child deserves an instructor patient enough to meet them exactly where they are.
Group lessons move at the pace of the group. Private lessons move at the pace of your child. That’s the whole idea behind ClearHaven — one instructor, one swimmer, a lesson plan built around how your child actually learns, and real progress you can see.
It’s also why families who need a little more patience, structure, or a calmer approach trust us too. The same individualized attention that helps a nervous 5-year-old feel safe in the water is what makes us especially effective for neurodivergent and sensory-sensitive swimmers as well. Whatever your child needs, we show up ready to meet them there.

Thirty minutes is the sweet spot for private instruction — long enough for real progress, short enough to keep young swimmers focused and engaged the whole time. Every lesson is one-on-one, so your child gets full attention from start to finish.
Children learning water safety. Kids of all abilities and learning styles. Families seeking private, personalized instruction. Children who thrive with a calm, structured environment. Whatever your child needs, we're ready to meet them there.
Questions? We've got answers.
Every lesson at ClearHaven is a private, one-on-one session with a dedicated instructor. We teach in a heated pool, so lessons run year-round — no seasonal breaks, no lost progress.
For children with little or no swimming experience, we recommend starting with two 30-minute sessions per week. Consistent, frequent practice is the fastest path to comfort and skill in the water. That said, every child is different — we'll work together to build a schedule that fits your child's needs and your family's routine.
That's a decision we leave to you. We can't decide when your child is ready to graduate — that's at the discretion of their parents. What we can tell you is that swim lessons are just one of many layers of defense against childhood drowning, alongside active supervision, pool barriers, and water safety habits at home. Many families choose to continue lessons well beyond basic water safety to build strong, confident swimmers.
Yes. Children with special needs are proudly included at ClearHaven. Our lessons are one-on-one and tailored to each student's individual pace, learning style, and comfort in the water. We proudly serve families who work with the San Diego Regional Center (SDRC) — contact your service coordinator for more information.
Have another question? Reach out anytime — we're happy to talk through your child's needs before you enroll.
